Tight End/Wide Receivers
Total: 40 starts
Jauan Jennings – 16 (25)
Marquez Callaway – 10 (16)
Brandon Johnson – 7 (21)
Josh Palmer – 6 (12)
Austin Pope – 1 (9)
Tennessee’s wide receivers are actually a decently experienced group. Jauan Jennings missed all but one game last year thanks to injury and getting dismissed late in the year, but he still leads the way with 16 career starts.
Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson were a solid duo for the Vols at receiver last year, and they return as juniors with quality starts under their belts. Josh Palmer started six games as a true freshman and appeared in all 12 of Tennessee’s games last season.
But aside from those four, the Vols will be counting on inexperienced players to provide support. Players such as Jordan Murphy, Latrell Williams, Tyler Byrd, Jacquez Jones, and true freshman Cedric Tillman will try and steal some playing time away from Jennings, Callaway, Johnson, and Palmer.
Tight end, on the other hand, is the most inexperienced unit on Tennessee’s entire roster.
Austin Pope is the only tight end with a start to his credit, and he’ll probably be playing more at H-back/fullback this season. Eli Wolf is the most experienced overall player at the position, and he has only four career catches.
The addition of JUCO tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson was a huge boost to that unit, and he and Wolf will likely head up an extremely unproven group this season.
