Tennessee is making progress on a ton of highly-rated players in the 2019 class. One of the top linebackers in the cycle put the Vols as one of his favorites coming off his visit to Knoxville on Monday, and the Vols were named finalists for another elite talent on Monday night too.
Khafre Brown is a four-star wide receiver from Charlotte, North Carolina who also visited Tennessee this past weekend. And he included the Vols in his list of his four finalists in his recruitment.
It’s been a long journey and I would like to first give all glory to god and thank everybody that has been in my corner and by my side through thick and thin …. I would love to thank all the schools that have offered me and trust and believed in my athletic ability top 4? pic.twitter.com/gRuhZbEWyJ

Brown had previously released a top six that included the Vols, but now he trimmed his list down to just four remaining teams. It would appear that the in-state Tarheels are the team to beat for him right now. He’s unofficially visited UNC about half a dozen times. He visited Tennessee back in April and attended their camp this past weekend.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Brown is rated as the No. 196 overall player and No. 33 receiver in the class. Those rankings also have him as the sixth-best player in the talent-rich state of North Carolina. Along with his top four schools, he also holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, USC, and Oregon among others.
Brown is a burner. He has exceptional speed and blazes past defenders time after time on his highlight film. But he doesn’t just use his speed to make all his plays; he can run routes pretty well too. He’s a dangerous player in the open field, and even though he doesn’t have a huge frame at just around 5-foot-11/6-foot, he’s actually not a bad option as an intermediate/deep receiver either. He’s also a more than capable returner on special teams.
As a junior, Brown caught 40 passes for 13 touchdowns and totaled over 1,000 all-purpose yards for West Mecklenburg. He’s an elusive athlete who is also a track star for his high school.
The Vols currently have one wide receiver committed in their 2019 class. Four-star Ramel Keyton is the only receiver currently committed to Tennessee, and receiver doesn’t figure to be one of the highest priorities in this class. But Tennessee’s coaches would like to add another pass catcher, and Brown is one of their top targets at the position.
