Tennessee has virtually no big time experience returning in their tight end unit. Eli Wolf leads the group in career catches and yards, and he has a whopping three catches for 56 yards in his career. He should contribute to the Vols this season, but he’s still a little small to be the type of tight end Tennessee’s offensive coaching staff wants.

And that’s where Dominick Wood-Anderson comes in.

Wood-Anderson was the top-rated JUCO tight end in the 2018 class, and the Vols beat out Alabama, Texas A&M, and others for his services. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound athlete can do it all from the tight end position. He should be one of the Vols’ top targets in the passing game, and he’s no slouch when it comes to blocking either.

It would be one of the biggest surprises of the year if anyone in the Vols’ tight end group beats out Wood-Anderson for Tennessee’s starting tight end position. The Vols will use several multiple tight end sets this season, but Wood-Anderson will be the top player in that group all season barring injury. He could finish as one of the Vols’ leading receivers this year, and his impact should be felt immediately.
