Greg Emerson joined the Vols as a highly-rated defensive lineman coming out of high school. He was an early enrollee and looked to try and carve out a spot on the depth chart in his first year with Tennessee. But Pruitt and his staff moved Emerson to offensive line in the spring to see what he could produce there. Now it remains to be seen where Emerson ends up.

The former four-star lineman out of Jackson, Tennessee suffered a pretty bad injury his senior year of high school, but he was still able to go during the spring for the Vols. He did look a little rusty, however, and a year to develop and get back to his former self could be beneficial. Plus, if he does end up switching positions, he’ll need to learn the nuances of that new position. Even if he stays on the defensive line, it’s not likely his services will be needed unless the Vols suffer a multitude of injuries once again.
