Kurott Garland, DL
Speaking of intriguing and versatile defensive linemen in Tennessee’s 2018 class, Kurott Garland is one of the biggest wildcards in the Vols’ class. Garland has the potential to be a hidden gem in UT’s 2018 class if he can develop like Pruitt and his staff hope. He has a ton of raw talent and athleticism, and he posted some monster numbers in high school, tallying 251 tackles, 66 tackles for loss, and 24.5 sacks in his final two seasons at Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia.
But as eye-popping as those numbers are, there’s a reason I said Garland’s talent is raw. He needs to work on his technique and the nuances of being a defensive lineman in the SEC. He’s not ready to play consistently as a true freshman, but UT’s coaches would love to see what he can do during his first season in a few games before redshirting him.
