Tennessee already has a couple offensive linemen committed in their 2019 class, but they’re still looking to add more. And they sent out to an offer to a physical lineman who’s already committed elsewhere this weekend.
Spencer Brown is a three-star offensive tackle from Commerce Township, Michigan. He’s been committed to Michigan State since the end of July in 2017, but recently his recruitment has started to heat up. And the Vols became the most recent team to give him an offer.

Brown is rated as the No. 460 overall player and No. 42 offensive tackle in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He picked up an offer from LSU last week, and Michigan offered him back in February of this year. The 6-foot-6, 295 pound lineman also holds offers from Florida, Miami, Virginia Tech, Iowa, and others.
Though he’s been committed to Michigan State for almost a year now, the recent interest in him by other big time programs could alter Brown’s plans for the future. And it’s easy to see why other schools are beginning to take an interest in him when you look at his film from his junior season.
It’s not hard to find Brown on his highlight tape. His 6-foot-6 frame helps him stand out, and he uses that large size to his advantage. He bullies defensive linemen and is very aggressive in run blocking. He has a quick first step and does a good job absorbing the impact of the initial attack of the defensive lineman. It’s unclear just how strong he is because he’s generally just bigger than everyone he faces on his film, but he does appear to have a good base and can get leverage despite being a head taller than most other players.
Tennessee has now offered 38 offensive tackles in the 2019 recruiting cycle, and they have one of the highest-rated players at that position currently committed to them in five-star Wanya Morris. But the Vols still need more linemen in this class, and Brown would be an intriguing addition if they can flip him.
