8. Brant Lawless, Defensive Line
Though he may not break through as a true freshman, Brant Lawless should provide plenty of competition along the defensive line even as a true freshman. For whatever reason, the four-star defensive tackle from Nashville was somewhat overlooked in UT’s 2018 class. He was one of a handful of four-stars signed in the class, but others like J.J. Peterson, Alontae Taylor, Jerome Carvin, and Greg Emerson got the headlines instead of Lawless.
Despite the lack of headlines, Lawless is a very good player. If Tennessee didn’t already have decent depth at defensive tackle, Lawless might’ve been able to come in and steal a starting spot on the defensive line. But for now, he should be able to bring some solid depth.
