5. Who Will Emerge as Leaders?
One of the big things that stood out this spring was the lack of on-field leaders for the Vols. Jeremy Pruitt and his coaching staff were very much the leaders for the team, and he said as much on multiple occasions. But the best teams in football are often player-led teams. So who will emerge this offseason as leaders for Tennessee in the film and weight rooms?
Daniel Bituli was showcasing some good leadership qualities in the linebacking unit this spring, and Jarrett Guarantano was more vocal during practices as well. If those two can continue to develop that aspect of their personalities, then that will bode well for the team.
We’ll get a glimpse of who Pruitt believes has been a good leader this summer when he makes his choices for SEC Media Days in July. Those three players will likely be three of the Vols who will be counted on most by Pruitt and his coaches to lead the team when they aren’t around or aren’t on the field.
