After a blazing hot start to the season, John Kelly’s junior year ended with a whimper thanks to poor offensive line play and injuries all across the board for Tennessee’s offense.
Kelly looked to be on pace for a potentially historic season with the Vols through Tennessee’s first four games, but then his paced slowed for the rest of the year. Not to mention he was suspended a game after getting into some legal trouble due to marijuana possession.
But despite all that, Kelly is still an impressive NFL prospect according to most scouts and analysts. He’s received anywhere from an earl fourth round grade to a late fifth round grade by draft experts. Many believe he’s a poor man’s version of NFL Rookie of the Year and fellow former Vol Alvin Kamara.
Kelly finished his Tennessee career with 1,573 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 327 carries while also catching 43 passes for 350 yards.
