If this grade had just been for the Orange Team, then it would’ve been one of the highest on the day. But this grades both of Tennessee’s quarterbacks on Saturday, and Will McBride’s performance brings down the mark. McBride struggled mightily, and part of that was because of the weaker offensive line he had to play behind as compared to Jarrett Guarantano. But McBride also didn’t look nearly as sharp and sailed a few passes that would’ve been good completions. He finished just 6-of-18 for 71 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Guarantano, meanwhile, looked improved from the fall. He still has plenty to work on, but he looked like a competent SEC quarterback, completing 15 of his 27 passes for 226 yards and two scores. He also had a 17-yard run. He was more aggressive, less indecisive, and played more poised. He still made mistakes and was late on throws, but overall he looked better.
