Tennessee’s roster has undergone a ton of changes this spring. Several players have switched positions, and many will be at those new positions for the Orange & White Game.

One unit that has seen some of the most change prior to spring practices starting was Tennessee’s front seven. The defensive line and linebackers haven’t seen as much change now that the spring has been underway, but there are several players who were listed as defensive ends who are now linebackers and outside linebackers who have moved to inside linebacker.

The Vols need a much better pass rush this season, and that’s the role of the front seven, especially in a 3-4 defense. Tennessee’s linebackers will be very important this season and moving forward, and this is our first full glimpse at seeing that new scheme. How will players like Darrell Taylor adjust to playing linebacker? How does Quart’e Sapp look at inside linebacker? Does Shy Tuttle look comfortable at nose tackle?

Tennessee’s defense has undergone a lot of change this spring, and it’s time to see what they look like early on.
