3. Tyler Byrd, DB/WR
One of the most talked about players on Tennessee’s roster this spring has been a player who’s barely seen the field in his UT career.
Tyler Byrd started out as a wide receiver with Tennessee, and he made some flashy plays as a true freshman. But for whatever reason, Butch Jones elected to put Byrd on the bench for most of the 2017 season, and Vol fans wanted to see Byrd moved to defense to show off his cornerback skills he had in high school.
At first, Pruitt wanted to do the same and moved Byrd from receiver to defensive back to start the spring. Byrd went from corner to safety over the first couple weeks of spring practices, but eventually Pruitt ended up moving Byrd back to wide receiver. And that’s where he’ll be on Saturday.
Will Byrd play at both receiver and safety in the Orange & White Game? Or will he stay at one position? Regardless, Vol fans will want to see what he can do on Saturday.
