7. Alontae Taylor, DB/WR
When Jeremy Pruitt was recruiting Alontae Taylor while at Alabama, he was trying to get the four-star athlete to join the Tide as a defensive back. Tennessee was recruiting him mostly at wide receiver, and that’s where he started out during the spring. But Pruitt moved Taylor to the defensive secondary just over a week ago, and that’s where he’ll be on Saturday.
Taylor did a little bit of everything in high school for Coffee County Central. He was their quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and played a little defense. But most of Taylor’s football experience has been on offense, and his switch to defense this spring came as a little bit of a surprise.
But apparently Taylor has taken to the move, and he may end up staying there this season. Watching how he performs on Saturday will be a very interesting story line to follow.
