8. Jerome Carvin, OL
The Vols’ offensive line has arguably been the most talked about unit aside from the quarterback this spring. Tennessee’s depth is very thin there right now because of the absence of Trey Smith, Chance Hall, and K’Rojhn Calbert. But those absences have enabled other players to step up and try to grab roster spots, and one of those players who’s taken advantage of that the most has been true freshman Jerome Carvin.
Coming out of high school, Carvin was a four-star tackle who looked like he could be a big time contributor down the line. But the Vols need some immediate help on the offensive line, and Carvin seems to moved himself into consideration for a backup role in his first year with Tennessee. How will he perform this Saturday in an actual game-like situation? Will he prove to be more like Trey Smith or Drew Richmond when it comes to performing as a freshman?
