Tennessee has been getting good news in their 2019 recruiting class lately. They added a commitment from a highly coveted tight end late last week and made the top six of a four-star receiver in the class as well. And this weekend, they made a good impression on one of the top receivers in the class.
Devonta Lee, a four-star wide receiver from Amite, Louisiana, was one of several unofficial visitors to Tennessee’s campus this weekend. And he came away with a good feeling, tweeting out that his visit was “great” and posting pics of himself in UT gear. He also retweeted several other players who picked up offers from the Vols over the weekend. Tennessee made his recent top 12 that he released as well.

Lee is rated as the No. 66 overall player and No. 13 receiver in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. They also have him listed as the fourth-best player in the talent-rich state of Louisiana.
As of now, Lee holds offers from over two dozen schools. Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Texas, Miami, and others have all extended offers to the 6-foot-2, 212 pound receiver.
Lee’s highlight film displays his elite speed and ability to make acrobatic catches. According to his 247Sports profile, Lee has been unofficially timed in the 40 yard dash with a 4.41 second run. And that speed shows on his film. Lee has great breakaway speed and abuses defenders with both his blazing speed and his great body control on jump passes. He knows how to high point passes and and is red zone target thanks to his big frame. His route work probably needs some work, but he’s a great athlete who knows how to use his talents. He’s even used on defense for Amite and shows off his superb return skills on a few interceptions.
The Vols will need to add a couple receivers in their 2019 recruiting class to replace a handful of outgoing seniors after the 2019 season. Lee will be a highly sought-after prospect for several schools, but expect Tennessee to go after the impressive athlete very hard in this cycle.
