The state of Georgia has always been a hot bed in recruiting. It’s home to some of the most talented football players in the country year in and year out. Per 247Sports, there are four five-star players and 39 four-stars in Georgia in the 2019 class alone.

Friday, one of the top tight ends in the Peach State committed to Tennessee, but the Vols also found themselves in the top six for an elite receiver from Marietta, GA.

Four-star Ramel Keyton tweeted out a graphic featuring 6 schools alongside a picture of himself, and the caption “Top 6.” And Tennessee made the cut for his top schools.

More than 20 schools have offered the electric play-maker out of Georgia. Tennessee is seen as the potential favorite to land him in what is still a murky recruitment. Wide receivers coach David Johnson is the lead recruiter for the Vols, and he has developed a good relationship with Keyton.

It is also interesting to note that Keyton retweeted Jackson Lowe’s tweet Thursday announcing his commitment to Tennessee.

The 247Sports Composite rankings has Keyton listed as the 27th-best receiver in the country and the No. 165 overall player in the country. They also have him ranked as the No. 20 player in the state of Georgia.

At 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Keyton provides quarterbacks a big frame to throw the ball to. He is a phenomenal athlete and can accelerate past defenders in man coverage, and he can high point 50/50 balls. His hands are elite. He controls the ball really well and easily catches balls that aren’t in his frame; he has very strong hands. He is an excellent route runner and doesn’t present any glaring weaknesses as a player. My biggest concern is his strength and ability to block.

As a junior last season, Keyton caught 59 passes for 1,294 yards and 16 touchdowns according to MaxPreps. He also broke up four passes on defense and even kicked two extra points for Marietta High School.

Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols have a very good chance to land Ramel Keyton, and he would be a big addition to their 2019 class. Tennessee will need to add a couple receivers in 2019 to prepare for the departure of some upperclassmen after the end of the 2019 season.
