Seniors: None
Juniors: None
Sophomores: Brent Cimaglia
Freshmen: Paxton Brooks
Outlook:
Aside from kicker Brent Cimaglia and early enrollee punter Paxton Brooks, the Vols are loaded mostly with walk-ons at their specialists positions right now.
Cimaglia split time with senior kicker Aaron Medley last season and was fairly productive as a true freshman. He has a big leg and can drive the ball well, and he’ll compete with talented walk-on Laszlo Toser this spring. Michigan walk-on kicker Ryan Tice, who will be a walk-on himself, will join the team after the spring for some increased competition.
Paxton Brooks is one of seven early enrollees the Vols this spring, and he’ll try to separate himself from walk-ons at punter to nail down Tennessee’s punting position as a true freshman. Joe Doyle and Grayson Lindle will be his main competition at the position.
Initial Projected Depth Chart:
A walk-on could certainly shake thing up at either position in the specialist unit, but expect Cimaglia and Brooks to likely be the starters at their respective positions by the time spring is over.
