If you’ve been paying attention to where the Vols have been sending out offers lately, you’ll have noticed that they’ve been targeting the state of Louisiana hard. Tennessee’s coaches have been trying to make progress on several key players from the Pelican State, and they got some good news from one of the top athletes from the state on Saturday.
Devin Bush, a four-star cornerback from the New Orleans area, tweeted out his top five schools moving forward in his recruitment. And Tennessee was one of the schools to make the cut.

The Vols join Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn, and LSU as the top schools for Bush moving forward. Bush most recently visited Tennessee for their Junior Day festivities on February 24th. Along with those five schools, he also holds offers from Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Mississippi State, and others.
Bush is just under 6-feet tall and is listed as the No. 136 overall player and 7th-best player from the state of Louisiana according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s allegedly been timed running a 4.45 second 40-yard dash and can squat 415 pounds.
A look at Bush’s film shows off several athletic features. Bush is a talented return man and returns several interceptions and a punt return for big gains or touchdowns. But he’s more than just that; Bush also has very solid coverage skills. He’s more than capable in man coverage and shows good anticipation and awareness. He’s physical and doesn’t let receivers beat him. He can also lay down some big hits and causes a couple fumbles on his highlight film too.
Tennessee will need corners in their 2019 class in a big way. And they’re trying to make more connections in Louisiana too. Eventually landing Devin Bush would take care of both of those, and he would be a huge addition to Tennessee’s class.
