Tennessee will be adding Stanford grad transfer quarterback Keller Chryst after the spring semester later this year. And on Monday it was reported that the Vols would be adding another grad transfer player to their roster, but it’s not at a position you might have expected.

According to a report from 247Sports, the Vols will be adding former Michigan kicker Ryan Tice to the roster. Tice will be a walk-on per the report and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Tice didn’t play much at Michigan. He didn’t play at all last season but connected on all 10 of his extra points in 2016 and averaged 63 yards per kickoff on three kickoffs.

Tennessee only has one scholarship kicker on the roster heading into the 2018 season, and that’s rising sophomore Brent Cimaglia. Last season as a true freshman, Cimaglia split time with senior Aaron Medley and made eight of his 13 field goal attempts. He connected on a 51-yard field goal for his long of the year, and he averaged 63.6 yards per kickoff on five kickoffs, four of which were touchbacks. Walk-on Laszlo Toser is also on the roster, but he didn’t register any stats last season.

The Vols will likely still be looking to add some more grad transfers to their roster, especially since Tice himself doesn’t take up a scholarship right now. We will keep you updated as more news occurs.
