Jeremy Pruitt has his staff of on-field coaches set. Even with a late change in the departure of Robert Gillespie, Pruitt went out and hired Alabama offensive assistant and former Heisman-winning quarterback Chris Weinke to fill that void.
But Pruitt has also added several off-field coaches to his staff at Tennessee. Former Vols Kevin Simon and Montario Hardesty are two of them, and former JUCO Coach of the Year Joe Osevet is another. And now according to a report, Pruitt has added another aid to his support staff.
Per a report from Football Scoop, Pruitt is taking another Alabama assistant and adding him to his staff at Tennessee. The report indicates that Alabama special teams analyst Carter Blount has accepted the same role on Pruitt’s staff with the Vols.
Blount worked with Pruitt at Alabama and at Georgia, and he also has experience at LSU as an assistant. And just like Pruitt and a few other of his coaches, Blount also coached high school football in the state of Alabama.
Charles Kelly is Tennessee’s special teams coordinator, and Blount will likely work alongside him.
