For only the second time in their last seven meetings, the Vols were able to defeat Florida in basketball on Wednesday night. That’s still a better percentage than the football Vols, but Florida has dominated the basketball rivalry recently as well.

But on Wednesday night in Thompson-Boling Arena, the Vols were able to hold off the Gators for a 62-57 win and earn their 20th win of the season in the process. And one of Tennessee’s more vocal and boisterous players shared his emotions after the final buzzer.

Admiral Schofield was the Vols’ second-leading scorer with 16 points and added eight rebounds and three assists in the win. He had more points than even Florida’s leading scorer, Jalen Hudson (13 points). And after the game, Schofield decided to have some fun with the few Florida fans in attendance.

Per video from Michael Lindsay, the sports editor at the Crossville Chronicle, Schofield ran around on the court after the game and mocked Florida fans with the Gator chomp.

If you recall, Tennessee running back John Kelly did the same thing during Tennessee’s game against Florida in Gainesville in football this last season. Kelly was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct in that game. But Schofield’s actions came after the game was over.

But Schofield acknowledged where he got the inspiration from.

Schofield is averaging career-highs in points (12.4), rebounds (6.2), and assists (1.6) this season. He’s shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and 39.3 percent from three.
