3. Defensive Tacke
Shy Tuttle, Quay Picou, Alexis Johnson, and Kyle Phillips are all seniors this season. Which means Tennessee will be losing a ton of players at defensive tackle and all along the defensive line after this season. And that means defensive line, specifically defensive tackle, needs to be addressed in this class.
Tennessee’s defense line is getting potentially the biggest makeover of any position under Pruitt and his staff. They’ll have one main, big nose tackle and two ends. And depending on personnel, one of those ends could be more of a tackle as well while the other is more of a pass rush specialist.
Right now, the Vols have Eric Crosby, Kivon Bennett, and Matthew Butler who project to be defensive tackles in 2019. That doesn’t include Kingston Harris and John Mincey in the 2018 recruiting class either. That’s not bad, but the Vols simply need more defensive linemen on the roster moving forward.
One Response
Surprised not to see RB on this list. Other than Chandler, and to some extent Fils-Aime, there is nobody with any meaningful experience, and we didn’t really address that need in this year’s class.
