Vols’ Top Needs for 2019 Recruiting Class

4. Cornerback

Although Pruitt said cornerback wasn’t a need for the Vols in the 2018 class, it will be for the 2019 class.

Assuming Tyler Byrd switches over and plays corner this season, Tennessee will have three juniors at the position and no seniors. So they don’t have an immediate need for next season, but they will for the future. And Tennessee needs bigger, more athletic bodies at the position regardless.

Adding Brandon Davis and potential steal Trevon Flowers (who could play either corner or safety) helped in the 2018 class. But the Vols need to address depth and find better fits in this cycle because cornerback is a very important position in Tennessee’s defense.

  1. Surprised not to see RB on this list. Other than Chandler, and to some extent Fils-Aime, there is nobody with any meaningful experience, and we didn’t really address that need in this year’s class.
