Vols’ Top Needs for 2019 Recruiting Class

7. Wide Receiver

Getting Alontae Taylor and possible sleeper prospect Cedric Tillman in the 2018 class was big for the Vols at wide receiver. But they’re going to need some more play-makers and depth in the near future.

If Jauan Jennings is officially reinstated to the team, he will be the only four-year receiver on the roster this season. But the Vols will have at least two seniors at the position in 2019 in Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson, and they only have eight scholarship players at the position right now (assuming Tyler Byrd switches to defensive back and Jennings is officially back).

The depth issue isn’t the biggest one facing the Vols’ wide receiving corps; they just desperately need some more play-makers for the future. Adding a couple receivers in this class would be big.

  1. Surprised not to see RB on this list. Other than Chandler, and to some extent Fils-Aime, there is nobody with any meaningful experience, and we didn’t really address that need in this year’s class.
