Hot Board: Vols’ Running Back Coach Candidates

Montario Hardesty

Quick Bio: Vol fans know who Montario Hardesty is. He played running back for the Vols from 2005-09 and is littered across the Vols’ record book for single-season and career rushing yards, touchdowns, and carries. Pruitt just added Hardesty in a support role as a quality control coach this offseason.

Pros: Hardesty is already here, so he would only require a promotion within. He’s familiar with Tennessee football and knows what it takes to be a very successful running back in the SEC.

Cons: Hardesty has no experience as a running backs coach and doesn’t have any Power Five coaching experience. It’s highly unlikely he gets the nod right now, but Vol fans would likely be a little more lenient on him considering his background.
