Hot Board: Vols’ Running Back Coach Candidates

Jay Graham

Quick Bio: One of the first names that has emerged in Tennessee’s search for a new running backs coach is Jay Graham. Tennessee fans have always liked Graham because not only is he a good coach, but he also played for the Vols in the mid-1990s. He coached for the Vols very briefly but left Tennessee in February of 2013 just months into the Butch Jones era. He just accepted the running backs coach position at Texas A&M this offseason.

Pros: Graham is known as a strong developer of running backs, and he has a track record of success everywhere he’s gone. He’s also a former Vol and has coached for Tennessee before. He has familiarity with what it takes to be a Vol.

Cons: If Graham has already signed his contract with the Aggies, then it will be very difficult to snatch him away from Texas A&M. There’s also the thinking that Graham isn’t the best at recruiting, but his coaching more than makes up for that if that’s the case.
