Ollie Lane, OL
The Vols added several solid offensive linemen in their 2018 class. But while all the focus is on four-star Jerome Carvin and junior college tackle Jahmir Johnson, I think Tennessee landed a steal in in-state guard Ollie Lane.
Lane, who played for Gibbs High School, is a little raw from a technique perspective. But he can be taught those things. You can’t teach the type of tough attitude and tenacity Lane plays with, though.
He already has the frame (6-foot-5) for an offensive guard. Lane is listed at 285 pounds as well, which means he doesn’t have to add as much weight to his frame as some linemen do coming out of high school.
Lane was the No. 891 player overall and the No. 28 player in the state of Tennessee. He should be able to redshirt this season, but look for him in the coming years.
