Analysis: Friend is tied with Chris Rumph as the second-highest paid coach on Pruitt’s staff. Friend may not be the most experienced coach on the staff, but he knows his way around the offensive line. He coached Georgia’s offensive line to major improvements in his time with the Bulldogs (and with Pruitt), and he helped Colorado State improve along the line and called plays for them as well. Friend is also a great recruiter and was pivotal in the Vols landing both Jerome Carvin and Jahmir Johnson in the 2018 class.
