2. Jahmir Johnson, OL
Aside from Trey Smith, Tennessee’s offensive line is completely up in the air. And JUCO transfer Jahmir Johnson should be able to use that to his advantage.
Smith is the only true solid piece along the Vols’ offensive line heading into this season. Drew Richmond has improved since his redshirt freshman season, but he’s also struggled with injury. Chance Hall has been very promising when he plays, but he missed all of last season due to an injury. Marcus Tatum and Ryan Johnson have been serviceable, but neither looked like true SEC starters last season.
Tennessee needs immediate help on the offensive line, especially at tackle. And Johnson, after he adds some weight, should be just what the Vols need.
Johnson is a very athletic tackle who was extremely effective at Arizona Western in junior college. Trey Smith will likely start at one of the Vols’ tackle positions, and I think Johnson will start at the other.
