3. Alontae Taylor, WR
Tennessee’s second highest-rated player in their 2018 class is Alontae Taylor, and he’s a truly special athlete. And it’s that athleticism and penchant for making plays that should help him see the field early and often for Tennessee.
Taylor is an early enrollee at Tennessee, and that should only help him get a leg up on the competition. The Vols need play makers on offense, and Taylor figures to be just that. Taylor is a dynamic athlete who can play in the slot, on the outside, and be used in a more hybrid role as well.
Even if Jauan Jennings returns and stays on the roster for the entirety of the 2018 season, the Vols need more diversity and explosiveness in their receiving corps. Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson are solid starters, but there’s not a lot in terms of known commodities behind them.
I fully expect Taylor to come in and be at least the No. 5 receiver if not the No. 4 receiver in the rotation this season. He’s that good of an athlete.
