4. Jordan Allen, LB
For some reason, it seems like Jordan Allen has been overlooked in Tennessee’s recruiting class. But don’t expect the Vols’ coaches to overlook him.
Allen is a perfect hybrid option for Tennessee’s 3-4 defense. He played defensive end and linebacker in junior college, and he was one of the top JUCO defensive ends in the 2018 class. At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Allen has the size and athleticism to play immediately at outside linebacker.
Allen’s role will be interesting to see for Tennessee this season. If he doesn’t start, he should still get plenty of snaps on defense. He’s a versatile player who specializes in pass rushing, but he also knows how to read running plays and disrupt those as well. He’s also an early enrollee, which means he’ll have extra time to get implemented to the defense.
In short, Jordan Allen is perfectly suited for the Vols’ new defense. And he should see a lot of playing time in his first year with Tennessee.
