Wide Receiver
Alontae Taylor
Star Ranking: 4 stars
Overall Ranking: 122
Position Ranking: 21
2018 Outlook:
Alontae Taylor is one of the biggest names in this class and for good reason. He is an electric player when the ball is in his hands. In high school, he played quarterback along with other positions, so there will be a learning curve as he transitions to full-time receiver. The good thing is that he is an early enrollee and will be able to practice with the team this spring. I think he’s someone that will begin to find the field more and more as the season progresses, but even early in the year they might try something to get the ball in his hands once or twice a game.
Cedric Tillman
Star Rating: 3 stars
Overall Ranking: 1,684
Position Ranking: 248
2018 Outlook:
Tillman is one of the lowest rated prospects signed by the Vols, but he put up some very good numbers in his high school career. He is a freak athlete, but he’s a raw football player. Tennessee’s roster has a lot of talented receivers, so it’s unlikely he will be able to crack the depth chart as a freshman. This season will be about learning the details of the game and improving the fundamentals. I will bet, however, that he has at least one highlight reel catch in fall camp.
