5. Anthony Grant/Jashaun Corbin
Yes, we’re getting this list started with two players in one category. But there’s a reason for that.
Tennessee needs to add another running back to their 2018 signing class to go alongside borderline three-star/four-star running back Jeremy Banks. They currently have three-star running back Anthony Grant committed (but not signed) in their class, but he’s far from a guarantee in the class. Grant has been pursued hard by a couple ACC schools — chiefly North Carolina and Virginia Tech — over the last month.
If the Vols can’t keep him in the fold and ultimately sign him, they need another back in this class to replace him. And four-star Jashaun Corbin would be the most likely candidate, and Tennessee needs to add him to their 2018 class if they can’t hold on to Grant.
Corbin fits more of the mold of a running back that head coach Jeremy Pruitt has been looking at since becoming the Vols’ head coach. He’s 6-foot, 191 pounds and has the athleticism of a smaller back. He’s the No. 8 all-purpose back in the class and is a top-300 overall player in the country. He recently released his top 3 schools, and the Vols made the cut along with Texas A&M and TCU.
The Vols need another running back in this class. Whether that’s Grant or Corbin doesn’t matter a ton; Tennessee just needs another capable back to go along with Banks.
