The Vols signed 14 players during the early signing period in December, but they didn’t sign a small handful of their current commitments. One of those commits, linebacker Matthew Flint, has since decommitted from the Vols. And Pruitt and his staff are hoping that Anthony Grant doesn’t follow in Flint’s footsteps.

Grant has been committed to Tennessee since June of this year, but he didn’t sign with the Vols during the early signing period. That led many Vol fans to think that he and Tennessee were going to part ways. But now it appears Pruitt and his staff are working very hard to keep Grant in the 2018 class, and he’s set to visit the Vols this weekend.

Grant wasn’t always scheduled to visit Tennessee this weekend. Originally, uncommitted running back Maurice Washington was going to visit. But then Grant decided to visit, and now Washington isn’t.

North Carolina got a visit from Grant last weekend, and Florida State just extended an offer to him on Friday. Grant is rated as the No. 390 overall player and No. 16 running back in the 2018 class, and the Vols will have to fight off the likes of UNC, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and others to keep him in their class.
