Though he’s just a three-star, John Mincey boasts a fairly strong offer list. Florida State is considered the favorite to land Mincey, but he has his visit to Tennessee this weekend and another visit to South Carolina next weekend before he heads down to FSU’s campus.

Mincey is the No. 775 overall player and 34th-rated strongside defensive end in the 2018 class. He hails from Homerville, Georgia and holds offers from Florida State, Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida, and others. He was committed to Arkansas for months but decommitted very recently. He reopened his recruitment on January 11th.

At 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, Mincey is exactly the type of hybrid defensive end/linebacker that would fit well in Jeremy Pruitt’s 3-4 defensive scheme. Mincey is a multi-sport athlete as well, as he played basketball for Clinch County High School too.

Mincey was offered earlier this year by Butch Jones’ staff, but Pruitt and his staff still like what they’ve seen from the versatile defender.
