The Vols’ new coaching staff continues to make the 2019 recruiting class a big priority, and now they’ve extended an offer to a one-time Florida commit in the class.
Tyrique Stevenson, a four-star cornerback in the 2019 class, tweeted out Thursday afternoon that the Vols had offered him a scholarship.

Stevenson committed to the Gators months ago but decided to reopen his recruitment on December 5th. He’s picked up three offers since then (including the Vols’ offer) and now holds over a dozen offers. Tennessee joins other schools such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Florida State, and others in the battle for his pledge.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Stevenson is the No. 198 overall player in the 2019 class and is the 18th-best athlete according to the same ratings. The 6-foot, 175 pound cornerback out of Homestead, Florida totaled 69 tackles, four interceptions, a fumble recovery, and returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown last season. He also returned a kickoff for a score.
Stevenson is a quick, multi-dimensional athlete who isn’t afraid to lay down a big hit. He has solid awareness, and he has the frame to add some more weight that he’ll need in SEC or Power Five play.
The Vols have an immediate need at cornerback for the 2018 season, but that unit will also be an area of need in the 2019 class too. Stevenson would be a big addition to the Vols’ 2019 class if they can land him.
