Daniel Bituli
Daniel Bituli had a strong sophomore campaign in 2017. But it could’ve been much, much better if he had been allowed to play more. And this new coaching staff and defensive scheme could be just what he needs to explode onto the college football scene.
Bituli amassed 23 total tackles in Tennessee’s season opener against Georgia Tech. He would end up with just 67 total tackles in the following 11 games, and he only eclipsed double digit tackles one other time in the season, and that was during the Vols’ last game of the season when he had 12 against Vanderbilt.
Bituli was a play-maker on Tennessee’s defense. He had three tackles for a loss, forced a fumble, and returned an interception 93 yards for a score against Alabama. He had more points in that game than the Vols’ offense.
With Pruitt coming in and bringing more 3-4 defensive schemes, Bituli should be able to see the field much more than he did under Butch Jones. Expect to see more of Bituli in 2018, and that should be a great thing for Tennessee’s defense.
