7. The Lady Vols Get Restored
Dave Hart made the controversial decision to get rid of the Lady Vols logo and brand for all but the women’s basketball team when he was still AD. But John Currie reversed that decision over the summer of 2017.
Currie held a press conference in early September to announce that the Lady Vols brand, logo, and merchandise would return for all women’s teams at UT. The women’s basketball team would no longer be the only Lady Vols team at the university, and fans almost unanimously applauded the decision.
Most saw Hart’s decision to get rid of the Lady Vols brand as a way to divide rather than unify. His intent was to bring about a “One Tennessee” mentality, but he failed to do that. Currie saw the need to fix that situation, and to his credit, he did so.
