3. Defensive Line
The defensive line is always a unit that every SEC school needs to recruit with purpose every recruiting cycle. But the Vols need to do so even more this cycle because of all the depth they’ll be losing off the line in the coming year or two.
Tennessee will have six seniors or redshirt seniors on their defensive line next season. They’re only losing Kendal Vickers this offseason, but they will be losing a ton more after next season. The Vols had a lot of freshman talent on the roster this season, but they need more depth and potential starters from this class.
The reason this unit isn’t higher on the list is because Tennessee already has commitments from some very highly-rated defensive linemen in their 2018 class. Four-stars Greg Emerson and Brant Lawless are committed to the Vols, and high three-star D’Andre Litaker is also committed.
The Vols could use another defensive lineman commitment, especially after Jamarcus Chatman decommitted. You can never have too many highly-rated defensive linemen in the SEC, and the Vols need to add another one or two in this class.
