It’s been a whirlwind 36 hours for Tennessee football. And we’re far from a conclusion to this fiasco.
After backing out of a potential deal to sign Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano to be UT’s head football coach, Tennessee Chancellor Beverly Davenport released a statement on Monday morning.
“I deeply regret the events of yesterday for everyone involved,” Davenport said. “The university remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, and I look forward to John Currie continuing the search to bring the next head football coach to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.”
With John Currie reportedly facing pressure from boosters about his job security, Davenport’s statement doesn’t put his job in doubt.
It looks like the Vols’ AD will still be able to make this decision as a “one man search firm.”
We’ll keep you updated if there are any more key developments with this story moving forward.

Fire Currie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get him out of UT
I dont trust Currie…….Remove him
This man does not need the authority to conduct a single man search
Shouldn’t be allowed to conduct search himself
