1. Big Time Experience
Tennessee’s last two hires have been underwhelming. Yes, Butch Jones technically had some Power Five experience while at Cincinnati, but Cincinnati does’t compare to Tennessee in the slightest. The Vols’ next head coach needs some sort of big time experience.
The Vols’ next head coach doesn’t necessarily have to be coaching at a top Power Five school this season. But they need some sort of experience at a big school or in the NFL. SEC experience is preferable to all that is mentioned above, but any sort of NFL or Power Five experience would be welcome.
Coaching in the SEC, whether it was as an assistant, coordinator, or head coach, takes priority for me. Because if a coach has been in the SEC, they know what it’s like in the conference and they know what Tennessee is like, even from afar. Having ties to Tennessee would be nice, but it’s not necessarily a must for me.
The coach doesn’t necessarily have to have SEC experience, but that’s placed No. 1 for me.
If a coach has some sort of big time experience and has been successful in that spot, then Tennessee is starting out on the right foot.

In many ways, this is an endorsement for David Cutcliff IMO. The O-line to me, seems the heart of everything wrong or right now. NO talent matters without blocking for them on a run or pass. And just keeping the offense on the field doing their part, would have changed everything these last few years. Little, big, things.
Wish Jon Gruden and Peyton would get together and get get the Vols back to respectability.
