Scott Frost

Quick Bio: One of the hottest names on the coaching market right now, Scott Frost has had an extremely successful season as Central Florida’s head coach this year. He played in the NFL for a few seasons before jumping into college coaching in the early 2000s.

Pros: Frost has exploded onto the scene this year as he’s led UCF to an undefeated season thus far and could help them crash the playoff picture as a Group of Five team. Frost also had success as Oregon’s offensive coordinator from 2013-15 before taking the UCF job.

Cons/Questions: This is Frost’s first ever head coaching job, and you hate to hire a coach after just one great season no matter how great that season actually is. What he’s done at UCF is commendable, but can he pull it off at a big time university like Tennessee?

Blake Anderson

Quick Bio: He’s coached in the state of Tennessee and he’s had success as a head coach. Blake Anderson is one of the more talked about rising head coaches in college football right now. He’s maintained the success of Arkansas State as a Group of Five standout, and he’s done a good job since taking over in 2014 as their head coach.

Pros: Anderson has been a head coach for several seasons and has coached at a Power Five school and in the state of Tennessee both. He was the co-offensive coordinator for MTSU from 2002-04 and the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for North Carolina from 2012-13.

Cons/Questions: He may have several years of head coaching experience, but they’re all at a smaller school. Anderson has yet to prove himself as a Power Five head coach.
