Vols Make it to Semifinals of SEC Tournament
Tennessee hasn’t had a lot of success in the SEC tournament over the last few decades. The Vols haven’t won the tournament in nearly 40 years, and they’ve only been to the finals twice since then.
I’m not predicting the Vols to win the tournament or even make it to the finals. But I think they get to the semifinals, and that’s something they haven’t done since 2014.
If Tennessee can somehow manage to finish in the top four teams in the SEC, they’ll get the coveted double-bye in the tournament, which means they’ll start out already in the quarterfinals. Even if they can’t do that, finishing in the top 10 teams will get them a single round bye, which means they won’t have to play on the opening day of the tournament.
The higher the seed, the better the match-up for the Vols in the tournament (at least theoretically). As long as they don’t run into a buzz saw or match-up with Kentucky in the quarterfinals, a semifinal appearance is very likely.
