Jordan Bowden Has Breakout Year
A lot of the attention this offseason has been focused on the Vols’ newest players. James Daniel III led the nation in points per game during the 2015-16 season and is healthy again as a grad transfer, and Yves Pons has all the upside of a potential star freshman. Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield are two fan favorites who have gotten a great deal of attention too.
But there’s one returning player who could be in line for a big season for the Vols.
Jordan Bowden got off to a hot start in his freshman season with the Vols, scoring in double digits in four of his first eight games. As a freshman, he scored in double digits in 10 of the 30 games he played in. He showed flashes of potential in several games in his first year as a Vol.
Now a sophomore, Bowden could be in for a breakout year.
Bowden won’t be counted on to be Tennessee’s leading scorer, but he should be a solid No. 3 option at worst. He has the skills it takes to pour on points, and if he can develop some more consistency, Bowden could transform into a reliable scoring option for a Tennessee team that needs to improve its offense from last season.
