How Guarantano’s First Start Compares to Other Vol QBs

Tyler Bray

The Vols desperately needed something to change on offense in Derek Dooley’s first season at the helm, and he elected to turn to true freshman Tyler Bray to save the Vols from failing to make a bowl game.

Tennessee was 2-6 when Bray took over as the starting quarterback, and he would lead the Vols to four straight wins to end the regular season. And he burst onto the scene with an impressive first career start.

Bray completed 19 of his 33 pass attempts for 325 yards and five touchdowns in the Vols’ 50-14 victory over Memphis on November 6th, 2010. Bray would go on to throw for 300 or more yards 11 more times in his Tennessee career after he did so in his first start.
