Nathan Peterman
Nathan Peterman’s first ever start will forever live in infamy in Tennessee history.
Head coach Butch Jones elected to switch things up at quarterback when the Vols traveled to Gainesville on September 9th in 2013 to take on the Florida Gators. He benched Justin Worley at the start of the game and turned to redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman.
But Peterman wasn’t ready, and Florida’s stout defense made him pay.
Peterman was just 4-of-11 for five yards in his brief start that was over before halftime. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble as well. The Vols would lose the game 31-17 even after Worley took the reins away from Peterman.
