Quinten Dormady
Guarantano isn’t the first Vol to make his first career start at quarterback this season. Junior Quinten Dormady beat him to the punch when he started Tennessee’s first game of the 2017 season against Georgia Tech in Atlanta on September 4th.
After a rough start to the game, Dormady rebounded and helped the Vols come back and win in double overtime. He finished his first start by completing 20 of his 37 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns in Tennessee’s 42-41 victory.
This season marks the first time since 2014 that Tennessee has started multiple quarterbacks in the same year, and it’s the first time since 2013 that the Vols have had two quarterbacks make their first career starts in the same season.
