Casey Clausen is arguably the second-best quarterback to play for the Vols since Peyton Manning last suited up for Tennessee. Most would argue between him, Tee Martin, Erik Ainge, and now Josh Dobbs. Regardless of where Clausen is ranked, he finished his Tennessee career trailing only Manning in several career categories.

Clausen wasn’t the starter to begin the 2000 season, but he would eventually take that job away from A.J. Suggs. Once Clausen was named th starter, he never gave that title up.

Phillip Fulmer tabbed Clausen to run the offense on October 21st, 2000 when the Vols took on Alabama. Clausen would go 17-of-24 for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Tennessee’s 20-10 victory over the Tide.
