10 Vols Who Have Something to Prove vs. Georgia

2. Shaq Wiggins, CB

Shaq Wiggins finally saw the field against UMass last weekend, and he looked solid in his extended playing time.

But now the Vols play Georgia. And granted, the Bulldogs don’t have a huge passing threat like Florida did (a game Wiggins only played a few snaps in), but Wiggins has a ton to prove in this match-up.

The Vols’ secondary has still struggled this season when it comes to tackling and not getting beat deep. Wiggins has the perfect opportunity in this game to show why he should be playing more if he can have a solid showing.

Tennessee needs better corner play not only for this game, but for the weeks to come. And Wiggins could provide a huge boost to the unit if he shows out against Georgia.

  1. One of Jones biggest problems is that he plays mind games with his players with regard to playing time. Call it an inferiority complex, he has to show people whose in charge. Case in point Bituli. A tackling machine but held out because of mental mistakes. Really? Jones, you’ve had two years to coach him up. You can’t be afraid to play 2-3 string players; that’s what has gotten you in trouble (Hurd is a great example).
