The Vols are now playing backups as starters at linebacker because of injuries, but the linebacking unit looked solid against UMass. Quart’e Sapp set a career-high in tackles in his first ever career start, and Colton Jumper totaled 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss. Elliot Berry turned in a highlight reel sack when he blew up quarterback Andrew Ford and Ford’s helmet flew off. Daniel Bituli had a solid overall performance as well. UMass only averaged 3.9 yards per carry, and the linebackers were a large part of that.
